It has been a busy few months and I've been working on a new project which I'm launching tomorrow. Creative Imaging News will be, I hope, a project which will help creatives and other folks find out more about using their imaging tools to produce wonderful art and images. The last 2 weeks of october were a high point for me, as I had a long time friend visit me ... Howard Carson, who is my Editor in chief at Kickstartnews and with whom I've worked for well over a decade on one project or another.
I spent 2 weeks showing him London and although I'm very tired at the end of those 2 weeks, I feel spiritually and creatively refreshed. we had many stimulating conversations and it was great to have someone with whom I could bounce ideas off and whose opinion I respect. We spent a great deal of time shooting the sites with our respective cameras and also visiting many of Londons attractions. Based on our chats and discussions 2007 looks like it may well be an interesting year and a busy one too...

Another year done with, and I've done a terrible job of maintaining this log ... main reason is that I'm already running several blogs elsewhere ... no excuse really. Georgiou Digital Imaging and Design has been
keeping me busy, my main client of last year was Adobe with whom I spent about 4 and half months working on a component of the next generation of their Creative Suite ... a thoroughly enjoyable experience and something I can't go into in much detail except that I have a great respect for the individuals I worked with at Adobe, both here in the UK and in the US and Germany.
2005 was a heavy year emotionally, one of my friends and a big client, whom I really enjoyed working with, committed suicide. The sad thing was that none of us had any idea he was so depressed and that his mindset was one of such a self destructive nature. The man was talented and I respected him greatly ... what a waste of a human life ... unfortunately I was left with the task of helping his widow wrap up his business and tie up as many loose ends as possible. Its amazing what you find out about your friends when you help their loved ones put things together after they pass. It made me cognisant of one thing and that was that it is best to not leave anything unsaid and to try and communicate things which are bothering you because you never know when it's your time to push off this mortal coil.
I also decided that this was the time for me to follow my own dreams. For many years I have worked hard to further other peoples goals and desires. Using my talents to make others rich ... and in several cases undeservedly so. This isn't envy speaking, it's a lens though which I've peered ... I've never had much love for money. I see it as a tool and like any other tool, it helps you do stuff and offers you choices. What I'm talking about here is the use of my time and abilities to work towards other peoples goals and on others visions. Why place effort on stuff which really holds no personal joy, beyond a paycheck that is. I guess this the reason why I've created Georgiou Digital Imaging and Design. It is one of the vehicles into which I can pour my efforts, in order to achieve my own personal goals and vision.
I'm also greatly enjoying writing my blogs and doing the reviews for kickstartnews and its affiliated sites. Time for me to go, but if you fancy checking out some interesting artsites or reading some info and news on digital imaging and photography visit my Artsites and Imageering blogs.

Another year has begun, Georgiou Digital Imaging and Design has been
up and running for about 7 months. I'm working on great projects with
several interesting clients. One of my clients makes really cool hi-tech
chairs and I've been working with them on several concepts ... real cool stuff. Another client for whom I have produced an identity
program for, has launched a company specializing in producing lifestyle
portraits.
I'm enjoying writing reviews of digital imaging software, plug-ins,
books and hardware for kickstartnews. I'm also testing and reviewing products
for a number of imaging and design software houses. I'm also working on
a couple of personal projects here which should be interesting and I'm
enjoying doing a lot more photography. I'm currently working on reviews
of Swift 3D and a couple of AutoFX Plug-ins. This year is already looking
to be very interesting and I'm looking forward to the challenge of growing
my consultancy.
On another note 2004 has ended in a horrific example of just how powerless
we are when nature decides to surprise us. The earthquakes and tsunami's
in the indian ocean have killed hundreds of thousands of people and wiped
out entire communities. When you see the swath of destruction these "small"
waves have cut across thousands of miles of beaches all across the area
you can't help but feel insignificant and deep sorrow. This is a time
to remind yourself about how precious life really is and also to tell
your loved ones how much you care ... If you can, please contribute to
one of the charities helping the survivors in the indian ocean and also
spare a thought or a prayer for those poor souls who have either lost
loved ones or been lost in the disaster.

Georgiou Digital Imaging and Design has
been up and running now for just over 2 months. I am just beginning to
appreciate how much I'm missing the time I spent in Canada, and all the
great people I met and worked with there. Having a network where my experience
has been proven is great but here in the UK, I am in essence starting
all over again. Still I have met some interesting folks here and slowly
but surely my projects are coming together. I've reviewed some great products
recently. SketchUp Version 3 is one of them ... a very nicely put together
product which great features and support from the Developer and Users
alike. Another Great product is Magix Music Maker 2004, which as a suite
of products aimed at the music enthusiast does a very good job of providing
many very useful tools and utilities. Check out both reviews at Kickstartnews.com - I'm currently working on a reviews for Stardock Object Desktop and for
a whole range of digital imaging and photography plug-ins for Photoshop.
April 5, 2004
I've been busy working on setting up my new company - Georgiou Digital
Imaging and Design. It'll be good to get back into working with clients
on challenges and to get creative again. I'm also exploring several new
product concepts... I'm enjoying the challlenge of setting up a new company
and trying to establish new contacts and clientelle.
July 27, 2003
It's been an interesting year so far, lots of new projects on the
go. I'm working on a couple of books at the moment, doing reviews for
a website called KickStart News, shooting a lot of photography for personal
projects and researching for project work for Digital Gigs. The creative
market here seems to be picking up a bit and is beginning to look as though
it could be a good year ahead. I'm definitely missing having my colleagues
around me, having someone to bounce ideas off is really important; your
internal voices can only go so far...
Summer Again - June 16, 2003
I'm back home from my week from hell ... quite the adventure ... I've
decided to focus on getting myself back into shape. I've realized just
how much we take things for granted, and that I can't afford to be lazy
when it comes to my health. I have about 12 weeks of physio and training
ahead and expect it to be a slow but steady job. Time to reorganize and
get a few things sorted out, I've gotta read a few more books and catch-up
on a few things like updating my website and so on...
"Summer"
in England - September 12,
2002
The weather here has been quite
pleasant. The average temperature has been around 22 Celsius and with
very little of the usual rain. I have managed to keep in touch with colleagues
and friends in Canada through the wonders of email and MSN Messenger.
I highly recommend it. Now if I could only get voice communication working
it would be cool.
Arrival
in London - August 2002
I have arrived back here in London, and have started the process of reaquainting
myself with the design market here. The resources available for artists
and designers are quite extensive, there are tons of recruitment and placement
companies here in London. Once my stuff arrives from Canada I should have
most of my stuff in place to start the process of finding work and projects. |
